Closing out Bumbershoot 2012 at the packed Fisher Green stage, Boston’s electro-pop sensation Passion Pit put on an outstanding performance Monday night with lead singer Michael Angelakos proving beyond a doubt that he knows how to handle a festival stage. A complete reversal of their intimate Bumbershoot Music Lounge session earlier in the day, the band, which had at least doubled in size, pulled out all the stops for an incredibly passionate performance.

Opening with the first single off their new album Gossamer, the band wasted no time revisiting some of their classic crowd pleasers, including “Moth’s Wings” and “The Reeling.” Angelakos stormed about the stage with his signature falsetto voice never wavering, swinging the microphone around, and dancing in a blinding strobe light with an intensity that brought the seemingly unlikely festival band to full life.
