Live Video: The Very Best

photo by Morgen Schuler (view set)

The Very Best are the very best at a lot of things. Hailing from across the Atlantic, London production duo Radioclit met Esau Mwamwaya after he sold one of them a bicycle. They invited the Malawi born singer to appear on a mixtape that quickly went viral, Pitchfork invited them to play their annual festival in America, and the rest is history. The very best at getting a party started, the eclectic group of musicians combine Afro-western hip-hop, funk, and traditional Malawian sounds as part of the global exchange of music which levels the playing field between laptops and handmade drums. Their first album, Warm Heart of Africa, featured guest appearances from Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig and Sri Lankan musician MIA, further boosting their prominence in the world of world music. Fresh off the release of their sophomore album MTMTMK, The Very Best joined us for a special live on KEXP in-studio performance, proving that their also the very best at bringing a smile to everyone in the station’s face. Check out the live video below, featuring songs from the new album as well as an interview with DJ Cheryl Waters, below:

This is great! Huge fan of TVB. Their San Francisco show was just incredible, thanks for helping the party continue. Cannot wait for their return to the States.
