Live Video: Passion Pit “acoustic” at Bumbershoot Music Lounge

How does a mainly electronic band go acoustic? Short answer: they don’t. Well, not really, but when Passion Pit played live in afternoon during KEXP’s broadcast at Bumbershoot, they stripped it way back. On the third day of the festival, before their jam packed evening show on the Fisher Green stage, Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos walked out on stage of the Bumbershoot Music Lounge by himself and performed “I’ve Got Your Number,” the opener to their 2008 debut EP Chunk of Change, with just an acoustic guitar. Immediately afterward, Ian Hultquist and Xander Singh (formerly of Pepper Rabbit) joined him and all three played keys and synths on “Constant Conversations,” from the new release, Gossamer. And so it went — old songs and new, some totally electric and some with Angelakos on acoustic guitar — never the full six-person stage show, but instead a truly unique experience for those able to attend this exclusive session. Now you can experience it for yourself. Check out the videos here:
