  • Feist took home the 2012 Polaris Music Prize for Best Canadian Album on Monday night, beating out Grimes, Japandroids, and Kathleen Edwards. Feist, who described winning as “getting the Valentine from the right boy”, had previously been nominated for 2007′s The Reminder and twice as a member of Broken Social Scene. Along with bragging rights, Leslie was awarded a $30,000 check. Watch her acceptance speech below.

  • Songs from Benjamin Gibbard’s solo debut Former Lives continued to trickle out when the Death Cab for Cutie frontman debuted the track “Bigger Than Love” yesterday morning. A duet with Aimee Mann, the track is a melodic, confessional, and moving addition to Gibbard’s songbook. Stream it over at NPR.

  • While Arcade Fire are working on their fourth full-length, the band’s Win and Will Butler teamed up with The Strokes‘ Nikolai Fraiture and David Byrne to play the halftime show at Pop Montreal’s POP vs Jock charity basketball game. The quartet performed garage rock classic “96 Tears” and, um, “That’s The Way (I Like It)”. Not one to miss out on the festivities, Regine Chassagne dressed up like a yeti-type creature and cheered. Watch video of their performance of the Jock Jam classic below.

  • When not tending to Caribou, Dan Snaith is working on his electronic dance project Daphni, which will release its newest album JIAOLONG next month. To prepare for the album’s launch, Snaith commissioned artist Jane Eastlight to create a trippy visual clip for the track “Pairs”. Watch it below ahead of JIAOLONG’s October 16th release.
