For better or worse, a lot of musical duos eventually become somewhat of a one trick pony, falling victim to the limited nature of whatever two instruments and style they’ve adopted. The Helio Sequence is not one of those bands. Although the Portland duo has undoubtedly developed a signature style over the course of their 16-year career, to the delight of fans and critics alike they’ve done so while continuing to put out some absolutely amazing songs. Fresh off their fifth album, Negotiations, Brandon Summers and Benjamin Weikel (who is quite possibly the happiest looking drummer on the face of the planet) joined us for an intimate and incredible performance live at the Bumbershoot Music Lounge earlier this month.
