Since even before their 2006 debut, Brooklyn’s Matt & Kim have been winning legions of fans with their fierce DIY aesthetic and energetic, shout-inducing indie rock. Both graduates of visual art at Pratt Institute, Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino taught themselves their instruments (keyboards and drums, respectively) on forming the band, and what was youthful exuberance then is well practiced exuberance now! The two have only strengthened the qualities that have made them so endearing.
Following the release of their fourth studio album, Lightning — out tomorrow, Tuesday, October 2nd, on FADER Label — the duo will bring their feel-good rock live to the KEXP studios on Monday, October 29, at 4:00pm.
