Tuesday Music News

  • Taken by Trees put out this cool video today – shot entirely on an iphone! The dream-pop song follows Victoria through LA’s sluggish and glamorous landscape – a poolside, a skyscraper, the side of a candy-striped building. And all wearing a”L.A” hat on her head.

  • Three awesome and much expected albums were released today: Ty Segall‘s third album of the year, Twins, Why?‘s Mumps Etc, and Lonesome Dreams by Lord Huron, whose in-studio will be on Monday, October 22, at 11am. Ty Segall has been tirelessly releasing music all year long, and his last album of the year shows the same rabid energy – this man will not be stopping soon. Why?’s album carried on in their usual monotone rap over bouncing backbeats – not so new but definitely still good in fans eyes. Lord Huron chooses to focus on his deeply folky subconscious in his dream worthy new album. Find out what else came “Out This Week” here.
  • San Francisco’s Tamaryn is streaming their new dream-poppy album, Tender New Signs, out on Mexican Summer next week. Listen to it at Gorilla vs. Bear.
  • Sigur Ros released yet another video from the Valtari series today. This one is directed by Ruslan Fedotow for the song “DauĂ°alognm” – it’s a slow progression through the woods and a long wait by a hospital bed.

  • Neil Young and Crazy Horse debuted this 17 minute long video for their track “Ramada Inn,” the second to be released this year in anticipation of their second album this year, Psychadelic Pill out on October 30th.

  • This might be stretching the definition of “music news,” but Andrew W.K. played his “Party Hard” while David Blane was electrocuted (not really) during his most recent stunt. In typical Andrew W.K. fashion, the video is pretty funny. “Party Hard” is music though, right?
