  • Only nine months after the release of their third album Ghostory, School of Seven Bells are prepping the release of a new EP featuring recorded versions of songs that the duo had played on their last U.S. tour. The EP, Put Your Sad Down, will be released on November 13th, featuring four original tunes and a cover of Silver Apples’ “Lovefingers”. To support the EP, Alley Deheza and Ben Curtis will embark on a brief East Coast tour with Twin Sister. View the dates and tracklisting over at Consequence of Sound.
  • Divine Fits have been throwing cover songs into their sets for a while now, but they’ve only recently started breaking out their take on Frank Ocean’s “Lost”. Britt Daniel takes the lead on the Channel Orange cut, and the end result sounds more like Spoon than either of aforementioned artists. Watch a video of the band playing the song below, and if we’re lucky, Frank will take on “Would That Not Be Nice” if he ever returns to the road.

  • Mercury Prize darling and occasional SBTRKT collaborator Jessie Ware will end her banner year by releasing a new EP and start next year by embarking on her first U.S. tour. The 110% EP, which shares the title track with her debut album Devotion, will be issued by Cherrytree in December and in January, she’ll play a short run of dates before heading to Australia and England for further dates. On top of all that, she’ll learn if she beats Alt-J (and a few others) for the Mercury Music Prize on November 1st.
  • NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts is about to get a new highest rated teach on Rate My Professor - Questlove of the Roots. Along with Universal Music vice president of A&R Harry Weinger, ?uesto will be teaching a course that examines the commercial and critical aspects of Led Zeppelin IV, Off The Wall, There’s A Riot Goin’ On, and other seminal LPs. In other words, an incredibly lucky group of NYU students will get to hang with Questlove while talking about Paul’s Boutique for school credit.
