Kimbra stopped by our studios recently before her stellar show during this year’s Decibel Festival with The Stepkids (which you can read about here). Between songs of this rare stripped down performance, Kimbra talked with Stevie Zoom about headlining a U.S. tour (after first supporting Gotye and Foster the People), recording her new album, collaborating with Foster the People and even the influence of horror films on her hardly horrific soulful pop -- though she did contribute a song to the Music from and Inspired by Tim Burton disc accompanying the Frankenweenie soundtrack. The songs themselves are true stunners, featuring two songs from her debut, Vows, “Two Way Street” and “Withdraw,” plus a cover of “Plain Gold Ring,” made famous by Nina Simone, but here presented in a unique “Kimbra” way:
