This week, KEXP returns to the land of fire and ice to broadcast during Iceland Airwaves 2012, where once again we’ll feature live performances from bands each day, some you’ve heard before and others you probably haven’t... nor can probably even pronounce! It’s the sheer talent and diversity of Iceland music that keeps bringing us back, and we’ll be featuring a variety of Icelandic artists as we broadcast live from the library of KEX Hostel in Reykjavik starting Wednesday, October 31, through Friday, November 2. You can see the broadcast schedule here
But in anticipation of the broadcast, we’ve assembled a Music That Matters podcast featuring many of the artists on our broadcast and others who are performing the festival this year. Gathered here you’ll find just an example of the dizzying microcosm of sound from the small Nordic nation that has captivated us over the years.
