Though opening act HEALTH dropped off the bill the previous day, the show had to go on for Crystal Castles on October 25th. Well, maybe “show” isn’t the right word to describe what went on at Showbox SoDo that night. It seemed more like a rave, between the pulsing music and hordes of costumed concert-goers. Frontwoman Alice Glass also took the risk of stage-diving two songs into the program, during “Baptism,” a blistering track from Crystal Castles’ second self-titled album. New songs “Plague” and “Wrath of God,” from the duo’s forthcoming album, (III), were well-received, and fan favorite “Crimewave” benefitted from the addition of live drums. (III) is currently streaming on Spotify, and the physical release is due out on Monday.
