Captured Tracks band Wild Nothings have been on the rise the last few years for good reason. With new album Nocturne out this year, a delightfully balanced trip back into the late 80s, where pop majesty and reverberated harmony both take front and center stage. Nocturne takes their critically acclaimed 2010 debut Gemini and builds it out with more experimentation and more anthemic presentation. It’s the perfect next step for this fantastic up and coming project. At KEXP’s broadcast from CMJ Union in New York City during the 2012 CMJ Music Marathon, we got a bit of a treat in the Wild Nothing set. While Jack Tatum and band played “Only Heather” and “Nocturne” from the new album, they also played a handful from Gemini and the wonderful EP single “Golden Haze.” Altogether, the band is only sounding stronger as time goes on, and Tatum’s live presentation seems to be growing more confident. Watch their full set below, and make sure to check out Nocturne, out now on Captured Tracks, home of nearly all today’s rising shoegaze acts.
