As if broadcasting 15 bands live on air during our broadcast from Iceland Airwaves wasn’t enough, we couldn’t help ourselves from recording as much local music as possible -- there are just too many great bands on that small island nation! Throughout the week, we found ourselves invading bands’ practice spaces, studios, and even their homes with microphones and cameras. One particular morning, while we were setting up for a full day’s broadcast at the KEX Hostel in Reykjavik, we snuck upstairs and into a 12-person dorm room to film Retro Stefson. Last year, the band played during our main broadcast (see photos here), but this year we caught them in this more intimate setting, surrounding by KEX Hostel guests perched on their beds and kind enough to forgive us for barging in, in exchange for a rare stripped down set by one of Iceland’s most talented bands.
