Live Around Town This Week

Blue Scholars play two nights at Showbox / photo by Dave Lichterman

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend with friends and family. What else do you need during the holidays? Some good live music! We take a peek inside the concert calendar with more great shows this week. Starting things off on Monday night, Rose Windows, Master Musicians of Bukkake, and Brain Fruit play at the Crocodile. On Tuesday, the supergroup of RNDM (featuring Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam, Joseph Arthur and Richard Stuverud) play two shows, a smaller one at Easy Street Records in Queen Anne and a much bigger one at the Showbox (Market). Jonathan Richman starts the first of two nights with Tommy Larkins on drums at Tractor Tavern. On Wednesday, Minirex and The Fabulous Downey Brothers are at Comet Tavern, and the best band names of the week award definitely goes to Post Madonna, Chastity Belt, and Dear Mister Manager at Chop Suey. On Friday, you really can’t go wrong with either Deep Sea Diver, Wild Belle, and Pretty Broken Things at Neumos, or the first of two nights with Blue Scholars, Brothers from Another, and Don’t Talk to the Cops! at Showbox at the Market. Saturday is busy with yet another Blue Scholars show (this one with Rocky Rivera), an Audioasis Benefit Showcase for Climate Solutions with Ravenna Woods, Kithkin, and SHiPS at Sunset Tavern, and a very special show with the talented Jherek Bischoff at Moore Theatre. There’s also a benefit show at Vera Project with Fresh Espresso, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, and Can the Boy Tell Time?, a cool show with Fox & The Law, Hobosexual, Panama Gold, and Sundries at Chop Suey. Califone, Rebecca Gate, and James Apollo are at the Crocodile, and The Great Um, Blue Skies for Black Hearts, and Spanish for 100 are at Darrell’s Tavern in Shoreline. On Sunday night, the girls fromerly known as Smoosh, now as Chaos Chaos perform with Dionvox and Land of Pines at the Crocodile. Check out the schedule of recommended shows with all the details below:
