It’s time again for Friday on My Mind, our weekly blog post where we look at videos centered around one common theme. This is a collaborative effort between KEXP and King 5 News. This week we are looking at artists to watch out for during 2013.

Atoms for Peace - Judge Jury and Executioner

Atoms for Peace are an indie super-group consisting of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Flea at the helm along with longtime Radiohead producer, Nigel Godrich. Although they first formed in 2009 and have played major concerts around the world, they have yet to release an album, until this year. Their debut full length, Amok, will be released on XL Recordings on February 26th here in the States. Here is the new video for the single Judge Jury and Executioner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4tW3mhp9io

Kitten - G#

Kitten are an up and coming band that you will definitely be hearing more from during 2013 and beyond. They are a young band and in fact the front-woman, Chloe Chaidez, is not yet 18 years old. Chaidez has garnered lot of attention for being a full force of energy on stage. They’ve already released two EPs, but are slated to release a full length in 2013 on Elektra Records.

Daughter - Home (during KEXP’s Fall 2012 CMJ broadcast)

Daughter are a trio out of North London. The project began in 2010 and started out as a solo effort of frontwoman Elena Tonra. Tonra and Daughter guitarist, Igor Haefeli are a couple and Remi Aguilella rounds out the band as the drummer. They self-released an EP in 2011 and 2012 saw them sign to legendary label 4AD. Expect to see their debut album released sometime early this year.

Honorable Mentions:

Savages - Husbands (on Jools Holland)

This all female band hails from London, England. They formed in October of 2011 and gathered a following based solely on their fierce live performances before ever releasing any recordings. Now with a few recorded singles and a 2012 live EP under their belt, this band that’s cited Black Sabbath as an influence, are set to release a full length to be released later in 2013.

Haerts - Wings

The creatively spelled Haerts originally came from Germany, and now this female and male duo reside in Brooklyn. “Wings” is their debut song.
