It’s time again for Friday on My Mind. Our weekly blog post where we look at look at videos centered around one common theme. This is a collaborative effort between KEXP and King 5 News.

There are three things that we love here at KEXP: sun, Fridays, and new music. Two out of three we are guaranteed. While it was difficult to tell during this week, sunnier days are indeed just around the corner. To help get you motivated for nicer days, here are some recent new favorite songs that we've been rocking on KEXP that might also become a part of everyone’s summer soundtrack. If the sun comes out.

Fitz and the Tantrums - Out of My League

From their brand new album More Than Just a Dream, "Out of My League" is our first song and video choice this week from Fitz and the Tantrums. We've been big fans of this band since they first performed during The Morning Show from the Cutting Room Studios NYC back in February of 2010. They continue to evolve and get even better. If you have a chance to see them live, make sure to do so because they give it their all during every performance.

Phoenix – Entertainment “Entertainment” is off of the fifth full length release, Bankrupt!, from French band Phoenix. Bankrupt! was highly anticipated after the success of 2009’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. It’s been four years since that album, during which time lead singer Thomas Mars became a father with his partner, film director Sofia Coppola. Here is the official video for “Entertainment” which takes place in Korea, and doesn't actually feature the band other than a glimpse of their picture at a public transit stop.

Bibio – À tout à l’heure

Our third song and video choice is from UK producer Stephen Wilkinson, aka Bibio. His most recent album Silver Wilkinson was just released this past May and the entire album oozes with Summer. Wilkinson has said that he was outside in his garden when he began to create this song. The video for “À tout à l’heure”, which is the first single off of the new album, was directed by Wilkinson, who directs all of his own music videos. This vid is comprised of 8mm footage, slow-rotating silhouettes, and super summery imagery.
