  • Earlier in the year Poliça released "Tiff", in collaboration with Justin Vernon - and today they have released the dark, claustrophobia-inducing, cinematic video for their already mildly scary song. In the video, which I'll warn you now only becomes more violent from the moment it starts, Channy Leaneagh plays all the roles, torturing herself  using brute violence,in a graphic representation of how one might tear themself apart from inside.  [Stereogum]
  • Back in 2009 Smith Westerns were just a group of super young rockers from Chicago whose non-signature fuzz/garage melodic pop was somehow more charming than everyone else's - wait, that's pretty much true still. Four years later and they are still just as charming, even if they have given up some of the fuzz in favor of a slightly cleaner, just as sincere pop sound. Listen to "Idol" from their upcoming album Soft Will below. [GvsB]
  • I've heard people say DIY is dead, but bands like The So So Glos, who have only recently achieved notoriety for their DIY expertise/making music/promoting themselves lifestyles, and their LA DIY counterparts No Age are proving this is totally wrong. Not only did No Age design everything physical and musical about their upcoming album An Object:, but they actually assembled and built all of it as well. Today we can hear "C'mon Stimmung", which sounds more produced than you might expect while still maintaining the rampant and screeching No Age sound. [Impose]
  • Hunx and His Punx have taken a turn for the punkier with the new single "Bad Skin" from their upcoming release Street Punk. The snark voiced, non-apologetic track reeks of the exact kind of brattiness that is only suited to a noisey, raucous, basement house show molded, somehow 50s 60s crooner influenced band - "I've got bad skin", and what are you gonna do about it? Their album will be out July 23rd on Hardly Art.[CoS]
