Exclusive KEXP Interview: Sir Paul McCartney

How does arguably the most beloved musician in the world kill time as his limo races through the streets of Seattle with full police escort? He waves to his thronging mobs of fans with one hand and calls KEXP with the other. Ever the industrious overachiever!

Sir Paul McCartney wanted to check in with Seattle music lovers as his motorcade rolled from his hotel to his sound check at Safeco Field so he picked up his cellie and gave our very own recently-knighted Kevin Cole a call on The Afternoon Show.

Sir Paul and KEXP’s Duke of Discs chatted about animal gasses, the joy of Jimi, and finding Nirvana. Listen below:

That was very nice of him. No rock star pretension at all. He’s the Number 1 living rock star of our age. Unparalleled. And the fact that he hooked up the way he did with Dave Grohl and Nirvana is just phenomenal. I feel very fortunate to have heard this interview. Thanks Kevin.
