When Palma Violets first played live for KEXP in March at SXSW, singer/bassist Chili Jesson nearly missed the gig due to flight complications. When they came to Seattle the following month, they more than made up for it by showing up first thing in the morning for an in-studio session at KEXP's studios. The UK group's Mats-style messiness is easily their greatest strength, and as they ran through tracks from their debut album 180, vocalist/guitarist Sam Fryer revealed how they mine that quality: "We just wanted to play for our friends in our basement. That's kinda changed now." The group's joyously fraternal mayhem is best displayed on the set closer "Best of Friends"; "I want you to be my BEST FRIEND," sing Jesson and Fryer, with an unpretentious conviction that can only come from four guys who spend every waking moment with each other. Watch the London four-piece bond together below.
