Surprisingly, you don’t see guitars dressed up, tagged or written on very often. But the guitar that belongs to Kimya Dawson of The Uncluded is just that. It’s like a city wall full of expression. Like their artwork, the music this Rhymesayers duo, which also features Portland emcee Aesop Rock, is funny, intricate and rhythmic. “I’d watch my daddy mop the floor and my heart started with a quarter,” sings Dawson, before Aesop Rock joins her in the chorus, “My whole life is a delicate cycle, a delicate cycle.” The Uncluded stopped by KEXP a short while ago for this in-studio with DJ Sharlese, but they'll also be back tomorrow, Tuesday, July 30th, at Neumos. Watch their KEXP performance below and get tickets for their show here.
