Friday Music News

  • Brooklyn punk rockers Parquet Courts have debuted a fresh, new single off their upcoming EP, Tally All The Things That You Broke. Within the first few seconds, “You’ve Got Me Wonderin’ Now” explodes with an amazing guitar rift and Andrew Savage’s unmistakable voice. Look for the five-track EP to drop in October. [Pitchfork]

  • Olympia natives, LAKE have released a new single entitled “Dog In The Desert.” It’s a stunning, lethargic tune that will be featured on their upcoming, fifth studio album, The World Is Real (out September 17). Check it out below. [Stereogum]

  • It’s been a few months since Akron/Family dropped Sub Verses, and now they’ve shared the music video for the album track “Sand Talk.” Director Al Beletic mashed concert footage and band bonding moments together to create a high energy video to match a head banging song. [Stereogum]

  • Last month, actor Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, announced that he was taking a break for acting to focus on his career as a rapper. It seems like he decided to mix the best of both world in the new short film “Clapping for the Wrong Reasons.” Glover’s mini movie previews several songs and features cameos from several celebrities. Why yes, that’s Topanga from Boy Meets World. [CoS]

  • Somehow the Lana Del Rey leaks keep popping up out of nowhere. “True Love On The Side” really deviates from the usual Del Rey formula of swooning vocals and slow burning beats. As much as I applaud artists trying something new, this doesn’t really work. That’s probably the reason it’s floating aimlessly around the internet instead of sitting pretty on her album.
