  • As the release date of Nirvana's 20th Anniversary reissue of In Utero approaches (September 24), we are being offered little morsels to get us pumped. For the first time ever, the director's cut of Anton Corbjin's video for "Heart Shaped Box" is available online. It can be streamed at EW.com now. Watch the original video below and see if you can pick up on the differences.

  • English new wave band Tears For Fears have decided to cover Arcade Fire's "Ready To Start." They manage to successfully incorporate a bit of lively, pop sounds and fuzzy synths to a popular rock song. [Stereogum]

  • Janelle Monae's highly anticipated new album, The Electric Lady, will drop next month and we've already been lucky enough to experience the amazing tracks "Q.U.E.E.N." and "Dance Apocalyptic." Today we have a slow, romantic offering to sample called "PrimeTime." Miguel lends his sensual vocals to this updated-yet-classic, R&B track.[Stereogum]

  • Minnesota synth pop band Polica have a debuted a new track off their upcoming Shulasmith (out October 22). "Chain My Name" is a sparkly pop song with an addictive hook. The band will be preforming at Showbox at the Market on November 23, so don't miss out. [Stereogum]

  • The Knife publicly offered their support to the imprisoned members of Pussy Riot at their recent show at Belgium's Pukkelpop festival. The date the Knife performed happened to be the one year anniversary of Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova's imprisonment in Russian labor camps. Watch as Tarek Halaby leads the crowd in what they call "Absudist Aerobics" while chanting, "Free Pussy Riot'! [Pitchfork]
