Following up his latest album, Help Is On The Way, scratchy-voiced local songwriter Gerald Collier stopped by the KEXP studios to play some new songs. Accompanied by friend and collaborator, Anna Horvitz, the duo harmonized over an unassuming acoustic guitar, singing narrative songs about women, forgiveness and revenge. Gerald has been busying himself with things non-musical until recently, but is back with pretty songs reminding the listener of broken hearts and rusted angels. Wearing purple John Lennon-style glasses and a black t-shirt, Gerald explained that he met Anna off Craigslist to help with the new record’s harmonies. “It was just automatic,” he said of their collaboration.
