KEXP at CMJ 2013, Day 1: Cub Sport

all photos by Benjamin Mobley (view set)

With a sound as sunny as their hometown of Brisbane, Australia, Cub Sport shone on stage from our CMJ broadcast this morning.

After a certain organization asked the band to change their name (can you guess who?), the newly-monikered quintet hit the road for their first-ever US tour, including their American radio debut on our airwaves. With their dueling keyboards and the schoolboy-sweet vocals of frontman Tim Nelson, their session charmed the audience at the Judson Memorial Church. As the sun poured in through the stained glass windows here in New York City, for a brief moment it felt summer hadn’t ended yet.
