  • Yeasayer submerged themselves into the mysterious world of science for their “Glass of the Microscope” video. It may seem like a very literal approach, but the colorful cells, natural history specimens, and random interpretive dancers take it to the next level. The band’s commitment to authenticity is also very commendable. They filmed the video at Lieden University in the Netherlands, where scientist Antoine van Leeuwenhoek designed an early prototype of the microscope in the 17th century. [CoS]

  • M.I.A. shared a one minute and twenty second preview of her new song “Y.A.L.A.” on twitter this week. It’s her own anti-YOLO anthem that means “You Always Live Again.” The song’s full version will be available October 22 if you pre-oder her album, Mantangi (out November 5). [Stereogum]

  • Atoms for Peace previewed a snipped of their “Before Your Very Eyes’ video Wednesday night during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl, but they didn’t hide the rest for very long. The band has made the video public on their YouTube page for the world’s viewing pleasure. There’s something uniquely creepy about Thom Yorke rising from the sand. [Pitchfork]

  • Brooklyn punk band The So So Glos dropped their awesome album, Blowout, earlier this year and today we have another taste of new material. “Emergency” is a fresh, high-energy track that was recorded in an astounding 48 hours. Check it out. [Stereogum]
