  • We’ve been hearing a lot about 2014 releases, but Third Man Records is already talkin’ about 2015 -- that’s when the new album from The Dead Weather comes out. Can’t wait that long? The supergroup of Jack White, Alison Mosshart of the Kills, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age, and Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs will release a series of singles throughout the new year, including the track you can stream below. Get the 7″ through Third Man’s Vault subscription series, or download the digital version on January 14. [Spin]

  • Want to have the best Valentine’s Day ever? Take your sweetheart to Los Angeles, where Spiritualized will perform their 1997 album Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space in its entirety with a full orchestra and choir. February 14th, 2014 also marks the re-opening of the Theatre at Ace Hotel (formerly the historic United Artists Theatre), which was built in 1927. [Pitchfork]
  • Actress/chanteuse Charlotte Gainsbourg has covered the Jimi Hendrix classic “Hey Joe,” with production by Beck (who you may recall also worked on her 2009 release, IRM). Her version will appear on the soundtrack to the upcoming controversial Lars Von Trier film (is there any other kind?) Nymphomaniac, which hits theaters in two parts (what?!) on 3/21 and 4/18. • Nothing says “merry” like the plaintive voice of Mark Kozelek, so it’s only fitting that the mastermind behind such jolly bands as Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon is releasing a Christmas album. Mark Kozelek Sings Christmas Carols won’t be out until November 2014, but in the holiday spirit, he’s shared a track from it, which you can stream below as you deck the halls. Mark brings his Sun Kil Moon project to The Neptune on February 21st. [Stereogum]

  • Former Velvet Underground drummer Moe Tucker shared a lovely remembrance of her bandmate and friend Lou Reed with UK’s The Guardian: “He was a great songwriter who pushed the boundaries in terms of what he was writing about, but more importantly, he was a good and loyal friend. It doesn’t seem right that I won’t be sending him a Christmas card.” [The Guardian]
  • Grammy-nominated teenaged pop sensation Lorde has just announced North American tour dates, including a March 24th stop at WaMu Theater. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 20th at 10:00 AM PT. [Pitchfork]
