It’s time again for Friday on My Mind. Our weekly blog post where we look at videos centered around one common theme. This is a collaborative effort between KEXP and King 5 News.

New music releases tend to slow down at the very end of the year, but we are excited because although we are only a few weeks into 2014, there is already so much good new music that we’re digging on.

Let’s check out a few of our recent favorites right now...Elbow - Fly Boy Blue / Lunette

Elbow have been together since 1991 and are a favorite of ours here at ye olde KEXP so we are more than excited about the upcoming release of their next album, The Take Off and Landing of Everything, which will hit record stores on March 10th. To get everyone ready for the new album, the band posted this video presenting us with a new song from the album and footage of the band in the studio.

FAMY - A Ho A Hand

The members of FAMY grew up together in South of France and they originally went by the name Family, but now live in London, England. They’ve toured with and have had their sound compared to the now defunct Wu Lyf. Evans Kati, the frontman for WU LYF, produced FAMY’s début track ‘Dogg, Dogg’. As well, three of the members of FAMY also play in a band called Los Porcos with former members of Wu Lyf. Check out this slow burning video for their single, “A Ho A Hand”:

Ming City Rockers - I Wanna Get Out of Here But I Can’t Take You Anywhere

Ming City Rockers will make your ears bleed...in a good way. This quartet that hails from Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire in England, recall the sounds of MC5 and The Stooges. Their single, “I Wanna Get Out of Here But I Can’t Take You Anywhere”, was just released earlier this week and it has a video to accompany it....

Honorable Mentions:

Big Scary - Twin Rivers

The duo originally formed in Melbourne, Australia back in 2006. They took a break from making music together for a while and then re-formed in 2008. Their most recent album, Not Art was released this past October in Australia and will see a world wide release on January 28th on Barsuk.
