Live Video: Augustines

Augustines‘s new album is cause to rejoice -- as much for the band as for fans. From the ashes Pela, the Brooklyn band beloved by KEXP listeners but embattled by a disinterested music industry, songwriters Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson formed this new band named after their shared birth month, one of many bonds that have held their friendship together through personal tragedies and near-insurmountable odds, many of which were recounted in their first post-Pela album, Rise Ye Sunken Ships. The new, self-titled album is a look ahead — bold, positive, promising journeys yet to come, ones that we are happy to take along with them. Recently, our roads converged in the KEXP studio as Augustines performed three new songs and a new version of Ships‘ opening track live on on the Morning Show with John Richards.
