Step aside, Beyonce. Sure, the pop diva may have self-released her own album last year, but as DJ Sharlese points out, Washington's own LAKE have been DIY'ing it since 2006. In fact, last year, the quirky locals released two albums -- The World is Real, on K Records, and their self-released album, Circular Doorway. Add in the fact that multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Ashley Eriksson also released a solo album, Colours, on K Records, and Queen B may just need to relinquish her crown. With sweet homey details -- the ribbon tying Eli Moore's guitar strap together, the safety pin holding Ashley's vintage glasses -- the band made a splash on Audioasis with their charming '70s-inspired pop.
