  • KEXP faves First Aid Kit have announced the follow-up to their beloved release, 2012′s The Lion’s Roar. The Swedish folk sisters will release the full-length Stay Gold on June 10th via Columbia Records, produced by Bright Eyes producer Mike Mogis. Sample the single “My Silver Lining” below. The girls are playing Saturday, May 24th at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, WA. [Pitchfork]

  • Speaking of Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst has shared a new song today, too, titled “Governor’s Ball.” His next album, Upside Down Mountain, comes out May 19th on Nonesuch and features a guest appearance from the aforementioned First Aid Kit. [Pitchfork]

  • It’s the closest we’ll get to a Pavement reunion anytime soon: Spiral Stairs joined Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks on stage at L.A.’s El Rey Theatre this past Friday night. Watch a fan-shot video of their classic track “Stereo” below. Malkmus will be LIVE on KEXP on Sunday, April 13th, and will take the stage at The Neptune the day before. [Stereogum]

  • Speaking of excellent special guests and fan-shot videos, last night, none other than My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James jumped on stage with The War on Drugs at Portland’s Wonder Ballroom. Watch their powerful take of John Lennon’s 1973 track “Mind Games” below, and watch video from The War on Drugs’ KEXP in-studio session on the blog here. [Spin]

  • And, finally, we’re sad to report that D.O.A. guitarist Dave Gregg passed away over the weekend. Gregg joined the punk band in 1980 on second guitar, playing on their debut Something Better Change and 1981′s Hardcore, before leaving the band in 1988. On the band’s Facebook page, they left the following statement: “Our dear friend and mentor Dave Gregg passed away yesterday evening surrounded by family in White Rock, BC. Those of you who know Dave, understand what an incredible person he was and know what a huge gap is now in a lot of lives. We will miss you, Dave.” [Exclaim]
