Are you one of the lucky ticket holders for the sold out Audioasis Benefit Show this Saturday, April 5th at the Sunset Tavern in Ballard?
Audioasis — the longest-running Northwest music show hosted by Sharlese Metcalf — features a community partnership with a featured non-profit of the month. April’s net proceeds benefit the Bushwick Book Club Seattle, but everyone profits in the evening’s experience, featuring Noah Gundersen, Ra Scion and Vox Mod, and Daniel Blue of Motopony.
Forget what you know about book clubs: The Bushwick Book Club writes and performs original music inspired by books. Seattle’s chapter of the Brooklyn-based group indulges once a month in an hour-long orgy of books, songs, and drink. Books have ranged from Ellen Forney’s Lust to Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice.
Tickets may be released at the door; call The Sunset on the day of the show. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show begins at 10 p.m.
Even if you can’t make it to the show, there are plenty of opportunities to support the Bushwick Book Club’s fantastic efforts at fostering song writing and building community:
- Volunteer at events.
- Read the featured books, and join them at an event.
- Request Bushwick Book Club STYLE (Songwriting Through Youth Literature Education) programming at your child’s school.
- Support the musicians featured at Bushwick performances.
- Offer your performance skills at an upcoming Bushwick show.
