This Saturday, April 5th, both The Recording Academy: Pacific Northwest Chapter and the EMP Museum are collaborating to create a symposium of regionally-specific songwriters in an event titled, The Second Annual Songwriter’s Summit. According to their website, the Summit will “bring together a diverse gathering of top music creators to explore the art, the craft, and the business of songwriting. These are artists both intrinsically important to the history and character of our region, and who translate these traditions into new expressions that have connected with music fans globally.”
The Songwriters’s Summit will appeal to musicians and fans alike as it features live performances from rising Seattle rapper Raz Simone and others; in-depth discussions with industry insiders like Bill Rieflin, Dave Allen, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis manager Zach Quillen; and local personalities including Marco Collins, Nancy Guppy and KEXP’s own Darek Mazzone and Larry Mizell Jr. hosting a wide variety of topics. Other guests include Seattle musician Shenandoah Davis, author Charles R. Cross, Artist Home’s Kevin Sur, Kill Rock Stars Portia Sabin and many others.
Members of the Recording Academy get in free. For non-members, the ticket price is $50. The event begins at 9:30AM at the EMP and runs until about 4:30PM with an after-party beginning around 5:30. You can get more information here. Space is limited, so please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot. See you there!
