  • Has it really been 23 years since the last Pixies album? On April 29th, the influential band end the streak with the release of Indie Cindy via their own Pixiesmusic label. The full-length compiles the previously-released EP-1, EP-2, and EP-3, all recorded without founding member Kim Deal. Stream the whole dang thing below. [The Guardian]

  • For another album stream, visit our friends at NPR to hear the upcoming release from Baltimore duo Wye Oak, Shriek, coming out April 29th on Merge Records. The album is getting a lot of attention for featuring no guitars. They’ll be in Seattle on Tuesday, July 15th at Neumos. [NPR Music]
  • On Record Store Day, Jack White set the record (er, no pun intended) for “World’s Fastest Released Record.” At his Third Man Studios in Nashville, he recorded, pressed, and sold a live version of track “Lazaretto” (the title track off his upcoming solo album) in three hours, 55 minutes, and 21 seconds. Even the sleeves for the 45s were produced during this brief time span, using photos taken during his performance. Watch a video detailing the events below: [Under the Radar]

  • Speaking of Record Store Day, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion released a 12″ featuring a recorded version of their infamous live mashup of the Beastie Boys’ “She’s on It” with Link Wray’s “Jack the Ripper.” Watch the video for it below, compiled from live footage: [Stereogum]

  • The date has been set for the annual Vibrations Festival in Seattle’s Volunteer Park Amphitheater: Sunday, August 3rd. Bands have yet to be announced. This year, instead of relying on corporate sponsorships for help, organizers are running an Indiegogo fundraising campaign, which you can learn more about here. [The Stranger’s Line Out]
