KEXP Suggests: Tomo Nakayama at Town Hall

At KEXP, we love us some Tomo Nakayama — Grand Hallway frontman, member of local acts Gold Leaves, Sera Cahoone and The Maldives, Seattle Rock Orchestra collaborator — not to mention, the new Seattle Town Hall Artist in Residence.

Join Tomo Nakayama at Town Hall on Tuesday, April 29th for “Scratch Night,” an interactive, hands-on presentation of music, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

The evening starts with new songs, performed by Nakayama, Kevin Murphy of The Moondoggies, Hanna Benn of Pollens, and Grant Olsen of Gold Leaves and Arthur & Yu.

After the performance, join an exploration of the creative process, as the artists and the audience discuss music and consider questions such as, what’s in a song, and what makes a chord work? But wait, there’s more: 30 minutes of open mic, and afterwards, a special after-party with Nakayama and others at Capitol Cider.

This amazing interactive evening takes place at Great Hall; enter on 8th Avenue. Tickets are free, but reservations via the “Buy Tickets” link encouraged. Town Hall members receive priority seating. Be sure to arrive early to sign-up, if you’re interested in playing the open mic.
