KEXP Suggests: Cairo Vibrations Fundraising Party 5/10

Wake the kids, call the neighbors, ‘cause the show this Saturday, May 10, at Cairo is shaping up to be one helluva springboard to get the summer season here in Seattle up-and-running.

How, you ask? Well, other than the killer lineup (more on that in a sec), the beloved Capitol Hill all ages venue and boutique is currently in the midst of a fundraising campaign for their Vibrations Festival, a day-long celebration of music, art and community happening August 3rd at Volunteer Park. Proceeds from Saturday’s show will go toward making sure this awesome, free, community festival. Picture the scene: balmy afternoon, rad music, picnic blankets, lounging, cool friends and family, probably a hoola-hooper, hopefully a dog with sunglasses. You can help Vibrations continue to be a highlight of the summer season here in Seattle.

Here’s how:

  • Come through and party this Saturday at Cairo with the boys and babes in your life, with music from Chastity Belt, KEXP’s own DJ Alex a.k.a. DJ D’Nelski and the Feel U DJs Cameron McCreery and Vladimir Sepetov.
  • Donate to Cairo’s Vibrations Indiegogo page to help defray festival costs and get cool stuff in return. Perks include limited editions tees designed by La Luz’s Shana Cleveland and others, private yoga classes, copies of the forthcoming Cold Jungle compilation (Wimps, King Dude, Mount Eerie, Dude York and More), cassette releases from local artists and your very own V.I.P. Vibrations tent i.e. plenty of shade for your melon plus food and drink to throw down your gullet.

Previous Vibrations have featured dynamite acts like Grass Widow, Seapony, Erik Blood, OC Notes and Night Beats, not to mention an impromptu dance party or two. Plus, how could you pass up the opportunity to eat Otter Pops in a park set to great live music? And maybe witness an accidental errant frisbee bonk someone on the head? Sounds like a perfect Seattle day to me.

See you goons there!
