  • Lana Del Rey unexpectedly cancelled last night's appearance on The Late Show at the last minute, but luckily for David Letterman, Elvis Costello was able to swoop in and save the show. Being the brilliant musician that he is, Costello only needed himself, his guitar, and a brand new song he wrote the night before (seriously) to pull of a captivating performance. [Stereogum]

  • It's been an extremely long 15 years since The Rentals have released a full-length album. Frontman Matt Sharp, formerly of Weezer, announced that Lost in Alphaville will drop on August 26 via Polyvinyl. The lead single, "Thought of Sound," explodes with a solid new wave formula and the perfect amount of nostalgia. [CoS]

  • Electronic duo Disclosure have taken a brief respite from their rigorous festival circuit to share a new remix. The Lawrence brothers took Jay Z and Pharrell's 2003 track "Frontin'" and added their signature percussion-laden sound. With both Pharrell and Disclosure's popularity on the rise, it makes sense to merge the two and revive a classic. [Pitchfork]

    • Damon Albarn infused the late night television cycle with his own brand of melancholy last night on The Tonight Show. He sang "Lonely Press Play," from his solo album Everyday Robots, during the show's TV broadcast and then followed it up with a special online-only offering of the Blur track "This Is A Low." Watch both performances below. [Stereogum]
