  • Yesterday, we shared a poignant cover of Joey Ramone's “I Got Knocked Down (But I’ll Get Up)” that School of Seven Bells recorded before the passing of Benjamin Curtis to a rare type of Non-Hodgkins Lymphona. Today, we have news that his bandmate Alejandra Deheza is currently in the studios, finishing the band's final album, featuring work Curtis recorded before and during his treatments. No release date projected yet, but in the meanwhile, visit Culture Collide to watch a beautiful video featuring Deheza, filmed by the band's long-time friends Toby Halbrooks and Alan Del Rio Ortiz. • It's been three years since the last album from Beirut, but Zach Condon and company shared two new songs at the Northside Festival in Brooklyn recently. Watch fan shot video of the tracks below: [Consequence of Sound]

  • New York folksters Woods have us all under their spell with their latest album, With Light And With Love, and now they're sharing even more new music with a 7″ single featuring two non-album tracks out July 8th on Captured Tracks. Stream the b-side "Tomorrow’s Only Yesterday" below. Woods are playing Thursday, July 31st at Neumos with Foxygen and Steve Gunn. [Stereogum]

  • We've reported before on the unlikely friendship between Eels and '80s icon Steve Perry, and last night in Amsterdam, they took it to the next level with a loving cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." Watch below: [Under the Radar]

  • Our pals at The Sunset Tavern will be closed for seven weeks in August for a major overhaul. The Ballard institution is building a new lounge they're calling "Betty's Room," and the stage area will get improved lighting, sight lines, sound, and more.
