Live Video: The Comettes

The local four-piece that calls “Earth” its hometown, The Comettes have honed the sound born in the 1980’s – that distorted, etherial, big-voiced rock – and made it their own here and now in 2014. Think: David Byrne, Lou Reed or even Pearl Jam if you slowed down the tape a bit. The band released their EP, Golden Blue, in 2013, which you can find here. It’s a powerful, thoughtful record coming on the heels of their 2011 self-titled release. KEXP DJ John Richards recently hosted The Comettes for an in-studio where they showed off their giant, looming tunes, all of which you can see here:
