  • Electronic duo Simian Mobile Disco will drop their fourth studio album on September 9. The entirety of Whorl was recorded live in front of an audience of 900. The purely instrumental, lead single “Tangents” kicks off with powerful percussions that bleed into an ultramodern mix. [CoS]

  • The always impeccably dressed Brooklyn group Lucius just released their cover of the Tears for Fears classic “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” as the b-side to their Genevieve 7” vinyl out today.

  • Legendary producer Nile Rodgers (Daft Punk, Disclosure) has been a steady presence in the music industry since the 70s. Now he’s reviving his solo career with his first new song in a decade. “Do What You Wanna Do” features Rodgers’ signature disco sound and will be officially released next month.   • How is it July already? Well, Marissa Nadler‘s new album is aptly titled July and it’s available now via Sacred Bones/Bella Union. In honor of the Fourth of July Nadler has shared an eerie video for the melancholy track “Firecracker.” [Stereogum]

  • Here’s a little something that ought to brighten your Tuesday. Mick Jagger is hilariously featured in the Monty Python comedy troupe’s reunion tour promo. Jagger rants about “wrinkly old men trying to relive their youth” and it’s the perfect pot calling the kettle black humor that makes it priceless. [Stereogum]

  • Local label Hardly Art just signed S, the internet-search challenging project of Jenn Ghetto (formerly of the much-missed Carissa’s Wierd), for her fourth LP, Cool Choices. A particular cool choice for the album: producer Chris Walla. The first single, “Vampires”, is another cool choice:
