After pumping out five albums in seven years, The Hold Steady were due for a break. But during the time between albums, the Brooklyn-via-Minneapolis band just couldn't keep from working. While vocalist Craig Finn released and toured a solo album of his own, guitarist Tad Kubler got the guys together, now including an additional guitarist, Steve Selvidge, to keep their creative muscles in shape. Three years in the making, Teeth Dreams, is their heaviest album yet, matching the band's sonic tension to Finn's lyrical anxiety. Yet, for their recent in-studio, as The Hold Steady celebrates ten years together, the band formed a perfect counterpoint to their notoriously high octane shows with a stripped down, acoustic "back porch sessions" performance, featuring three songs from the new album and an older favorite.
