Friday Music News

  • A Sunny Day in Glasgow will drop a 5-track EP called No Death exclusively in the UK, but for those of us on the other side of the pond, the band has shared a remix of the EP’s opening number. This stunning interpretation of “Bye Bye Big Ocean” was remixed by Kurt Feldman, better known as Ice Choir. Check it out. [Stereogum]

  • Singer-songwriter and Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy has shared a new track off his upcoming album Sukierae (out on September 16). “Fake Fur Coat” is a easygoing, folksy number that shows off Tweedy’s effortless talent. He was also the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night where her performed “High As Hello.” You can hear both tracks below. [Pitchfork]

  • Phantogram recruited Thom Green, drummer for Alt-J, to remix “Never Going Home” from their hit album Voices. This haunting version is featured on AMC’s The Walking Dead Complete Fourth Season Soundtrack: Songs of Survival Vol 2, which is out now. [Stereogum]

  • Today, rapper DOOM has announced the release date for his forthcoming, collaborative album with up-and-comer Bishop Nehru. The cleverly titled. 9-song NehruvianDOOM will be available on September 23. The duo has also released an album track called “Om.” DOOM takes a backseat on this one and really gives Nehru a chance to tear it up. [CoS]
