It’s time again for Friday on My Mind. Our weekly blog post where we look at videos centered around one common theme. This is a collaborative effort between KEXP and King 5 News.

It’s time again for what has become a Seattle Summer tradition: Capitol Hill Block Party! It's really a one of a kind of event in Seattle, where the streets are shut down in a major part of our city to celebrate music and community. This is one of the many reasons that we here at KEXP absolutely love it. They also feature a ton of KEXP artists while maintaining a massive goal of supporting the Seattle music scene. The party gets going today, and will last through this Sunday. It's been estimated that a whopping 30,000 people flock to the Capitol Hill neighborhood for these three days of music, which includes over one hundred bands that play across six city blocks. And for 2014, there has been the addition of a second outdoor stage, which is great since the weather is expected to be beyond perfect this weekend. Ticket buyers also have the option of donating to Creative Advantage, which is a local organization trying to restore arts education to Seattle classrooms adding to the more than $25,000 that the Capitol Hill Block Party has raised for Seattle non-profits over the years. This is even more reason to love this festival. Now let's look at some of our must see acts!Spoon - Do You

The eighth album from Spoon, They Want My Soul, will be out in a few weeks on August 5th. It’s been four years since their last album. They currently in the midst of a World Tour which brings them here to Seattle for the Capitol Hill Block Party. Playing tonight on the Main Stage at 10:45pm. Check out the official video for “Do You” off of the new album. If this doesn’t make you think twice about having children, I don’t know what will:

The War on Drugs have been going for nine years now . “Red Eyes” is from their third album, Lost in a Dream, which was written and recorded over the span of two years. Here is their performance of the song from their most recent in studio performance for KEXP:

Matt and Kim - Daylight

Playing tonight on the Main Stage at 9:15pm. Here is the official video from one of my all-time favorite songs by Matt & Kim, “Daylight”. This one is taken off of their 2009 album Grand, which the Brooklyn duo recorded at Matt’s parents’ house in Vermont and even more specifically from his childhood bedroom. It's also worth noting that during this video there is no nudity, which tends to happen in their videos a lot.
