Oh, hey, did you hear there's a new album out this week from Spoon? KEXP has been, understandably, excited for the latest release from this veteran band (watch an exclusive nine-song set from the band that we aired on The Midday Show on KEXP earlier today). KEXP Music Director Don Yates notes, "this veteran Austin band’s eighth album is a masterfully constructed set of rhythmic pop-rock with consistently strong, beautifully detailed songs combining jagged guitar lines, bright keyboards, taut rhythms, grainy vocals and enigmatic lyrics."

Other highlights this week include the latest from Twin Peaks, "another strong full-length blending raw garage-rock and sunny psych-pop with bouncy, hook-filled power pop." Longtime KEXP faves The Rosebuds return with their sixth album, "a typically well-crafted set ranging from moody, soul-influenced songs to bright, jangly rockers." Chapel Hill, NC band Spider Bags have a horrific band name (bags of spiders?!), but a great new release: "another strong set of ramshackle garage-rock flavored with psych-rock, surf, folk-rock and more, with songs ranging from catchy anthemic rockers and edgy psych-rock jams to dark, moody ballads." And Seattle's own Katie Kate officially releases her latest album, Nation, today. Be sure to catch her this Friday, August 8th at Concerts at the Mural at the Decibel Festival-curated show at Seattle Center, also featuring Yppah and IG88.
