  • We’ve got another track from Ex-Hex, a new project led by Mary Timony, formerly of Wild Flag, Helium, and (let’s just throw it out there ‘cause they were awesome) Autoclave. Stream the bad-ass track “Beast” below. The debut full-length from this DC power-trio is titled Rips, and comes out 10/7 on Merge Records. [Stereogum]

  • Canadian darlings Stars also have a new track to share: stream the almost 7-minute-long disco-synth stomper “From the Night” below, from their forthcoming seventh album, No One is Lost, out October 14th via ATO Records. Frontman Torquil Campbell explained to NPR that the song is, “a letter to those of you who stayed home and didn’t take a chance on the possibility that a bassline and a hi-hat rhythm might save your life. We just wanted you all to know that it’s beautiful out here; that everyone feels like time won’t end and we will all be alive forever.” [Consequence of Sound]

  • KEXP predicted Arcade Fire would pay tribute to Seattle somehow during their Friday night performance at The Gorge, and we were partially right: watch the band work a cover of Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” into their own track “Rococo.” [Spin]

  • Numero Group always do a beautiful job with their reissues, and this November 11th, they’ll turn out a collection from Dallas, TX slowcore pioneers Bedhead. Titled Bedhead: 1992-1998, the box set contains their albums WhatFunLifeWas (1994), Beheaded (1996), and Transaction de Novo (1998), as well as bonus singles, EPs, and outtakes. Watch the trailer for the long-awaited collection below: [Pitchfork]
