Song of the Day: Júníus Meyvant - Color Decay

Vestmannaeyjar, or the Westman Islands, may be one of the windiest places in the world, but thankfully Júníus Meyvant held on tight. Born Unnar Gísli Sigurmundsson, the young singer-songwriter grew up in the southern Icelandic archipelago seeking a life of music and creativity. After a few missteps, he eventually found his way to the warm, acoustic solo project Júníus Meyvant. "Color Decay", his first and only single, is so lyrically rich and gorgeously orchestrated, that we can only anticipate how beautiful his forthcoming debut will be. We couldn't wait to hear more, so last month, we brought him to Seattle and share his talent at this year's KEXP-curated Reykjavik Calling showcase, where he charmed the pants off the adoring audience with his wit and mellifluous voice.

Fortunately, you won't have to wait long to hear more of Júníus Meyvant, as he will be performing LIVE on KEXP during our 2014 Iceland Airwaves broadcast from Kex Hostel in Reykjavik on Thursday, November 6th, at 08:00AM PST/ 11:00AM EST.
