  • In some not-that-shocking news, lovable bad-boy Mac DeMarco was detained by police this past weekend at a UC Santa Barbara show. The mischievous musician had crowd-surfed during his set, eventually grabbing on to the venue's low-hanging ceiling beams. He then climbed to the second floor of the building, and headed back down to the stage, where the cops were waiting for him. Sadly, the show was cut short as DeMarco was then escorted off the premises. No charges were filed, he was released from custody, and is currently back on the road in support of his latest album, Salad Days. Ceiling beams, beware. [Under the Radar]
  • Get a sneak peek from the upcoming release from The Very Best, the UK-based duo of vocalist Esau Mwamwaya and producer Johan Hugo (of Radioclit). Check out the track "Hear Me," featuring Vampire Weekend's Chris Baio on bass. The forthcoming still-untitled album is slated for a Spring 2015 release, and was recorded in M'dala Chikowa Village, Mali, where the video below was filmed. [Pitchfork]

  • Florida-based band Merchandise made their French television debut, performing the tracks "Enemy" and "Telephone." The TV program is titled Album de la Semaine, or "Album of the Week," an honor bestowed on the band's recent 4AD release, After the End. Watch their performance below. [Stereogum]

  • And French couch potatoes also got to see Parquet Courts on their TV sets. The Brooklyn band took to the show Le Grand Journal to perform "Content Nausea," the title track from their "Parkay Quarts" full-length. (The release was recorded under an altered name since it only features Courts frontmen Austin Brown and Andrew Savage.) Check out their French TV debut below, and keep track of all the U.S. television highlights with KEXP's TV Eye column. [Stereogum]
