Today’s song, featured on the Midday Show with Cheryl Waters, is “Warmest Night” by Seattle band Cabana from their 2014 self-released, self-titled EP.

Cabana - Warmest Night (MP3)

Ever surfed the Puget Sound? Neither have we, but local band Cabana brings enough surf vibes to the chilly Pacific Northwest to thaw this December day with “Warmest Night” from their latest EP. Although the band dips their feet into the salty waters of surf-tinged guitar riffs, the quartet is known for their shoegaze-y psych-pop. Formed in 2012, the group cites influences from Brian Jonestown Masascre to My Bloody Valentine.

A departure from the rest of the EP's alt-rock feel, today's featured song, "Warmest Night", bolsters the release's sunny spirit. With its meandering intro and lead singer Roan Hartzog's confident vocal interlude, it feels like being beckoned into a summer cabana paradise. "Warmest Night" evokes those summer nights we all long for here in the Northwest as the winter grey sets in.

Cabana will be playing KEXP's Yule Benefit on December 20 at Neumos. The event benefits KEXP's new home campaign and also features Strand of Oaks, Cymbals Eat Guitars and S. Find out more about the show and how to get tickets here. You can find out more about Cabana on Facebook. For now, dive into the staticky blue ocean of Cabana's "Silent Lady" video below:
