Remember how Modest Mouse hinted at a new song earlier this month? Well, here it is! Stream the track "Lampshades on Fire" (via The Current) below, a sneak peek at their upcoming album Strangers to Ourselves out March 3rd. As you'll hear, it doesn't stray far from the trademark Mouse sound you know and love. "Lampshades on Fire" marks the band's first new music since their 2009 EP No One’s First and You’re Next. Speaking of long-awaited new albums, if you were listening to Street Sounds on KEXP this weekend, chances are you heard a sneak peek at new music from D'Angelo. The rapper's follow-up to 2000's Voodoo is titled Black Messiah, and hits stores tomorrow. Q-Tip and Kendra Foster of Funkadelic contributed lyrics, and ?uestlove, bassist Pino Palladino, and drummer James Gadson play on it. Stream the album in its entirety via Spotify below. [Pitchfork]

Animal Collective’s Noah Lennox (aka Panda Bear) shares a beautifully-animated new video for the track "Boys Latin." Directors/animators Isaiah Saxon and Sean Hellfritsch from Encyclopedia Pictura craft a fantastical landscape. In a statement, Saxon explained, "We tried hard to bring out the vibe of that alternating melody that Noah is singing. We wondered what that should look and feel like from a synesthesia perspective. We’ve always believed that shapes and forms themselves have emotional meaning. For example, round things are often cute and non-threatening, while spiky things usually seem dangerous. We ran with that idea by creating these dynamic forms that grow out of our characters as they deal with their emotions." The track will appear on the forthcoming release Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, out January 13th. [Consequence of Sound]

London shoegaze quartet Cheatahs also have new music coming out next year, and today they share the video for the track "Controller." Follow two young girls as they play video games and talk about the meaning of life. The existential mini-film was directed by Federico Urdaneta of the All Too Human film collective and co-written by guitarist James Wignall. The track will appear on the EP Sunne, out February 23rd.
