  • Matthew Houck, aka Phosphorescent, is set to release a live album titled Live at the Music Hall, recorded during his residency at the Williamsburg, Brooklyn venue. As anyone who’s heard Live at KEXP, Volume 5 knows, Houck’s songs truly shine when performed live. Listen to his take of “Nothing Was Stolen (Love Me Foolishly)” below. Live at the Music Hall hits stores on February 17th via Dead Oceans. [Consequence of Sound]

  • With Fleet Foxes on indefinite hiatus, frontman Robin Pecknold is finding new avenues for his music. Most recently, Pecknold composed the score for the off-Broadway play Wyoming, written by his cousin Brian Watkins. The music was written in collaboration with drummer/singer/songwriter Neal Morgan, who’s previously played with Joanna Newsom and Bill Callahan. There are currently no plans to release the score on album, so you’ll need to get yourself to New York’s Theater For the New City during the play’s run January 15th-31st. [Under the Radar]
  • Sam Beam, aka Iron & Wine, has announced he’s launching a series of archival recordings via his own Black Cricket Recording Company label. Archive Series Volume No. 1 hits the streets on February 24th, and features 16 home recordings made around the same time as his 2002 debut album The Creek Drank the Cradle. The songs were all digitally transferred from original cassettes. Stream the track “Everyone’s Summer of ’95” below: [Pitchfork]
