2015 is off to a great start for new releases! Highlights include the latest from Panda Bear, aka Noah Lennox of Animal Collective. KEXP Music Director Don Yates notes that the fifth release from this experimental artist "is a typically adventurous, brightly colored set of warped psych-pop with swirling, often-disoriented synths, trippy ambient textures, occasional hip hop breakbeats, celestial melodies, multi-layered vocals and quasi-cryptic reflections on mortality."

Additional highlights include the latest from Amherst, MA, band California X whose second album is "an impressive set of ‘90s-steeped guitar-rock reminiscent at times of a more punkish Dinosaur Jr. or Built To Spill, combining loud, fuzzy guitars with energetic rhythms and anthemic song hooks." Justin Townes Earle returns with a companion album to 2014’s Single Mothers, this one titled Absent Fathers. "Like that album, it’s a melancholy, deeply personal set blending roots-rock, Southern soul, country, folk, blues and more." The latest from Canadian quartet Dan Mangan + Blacksmith "finds him continuing his evolution towards a darker, more experimental sound with this expansive set of prog-steeped pop-rock combining a densely produced sound with moody melodies and reflective lyrics."
